What Was That!? [Ming and Siegfried] Empty What Was That!? [Ming and Siegfried]

She didn't often go into town. Sure, she left her lake to go to work and then back, but really she tried to avoid town as much as she could. It was just too much work trying to act as if she wasn't somewhat terrified of everyone she saw. It wasn't that she was a coward - Aleta could never be considered a coward - but it had been so long since she had interacted with someone more like her than like the humans and she didn't know what to do.

But she needed more grading materials and so she had to come to town so she could get them. So she could deal with this, it wasn't that difficult. And if she happened to cringe when catching someone's eyes it's just because she thought of something terrible, not because she didn't want to be looking at this person.

Aleta sighed and shook her head, straightening out. She could do this, and she would do this without insulting someone else. Nodding firmly to herself, she turned the corner and almost shrieked when she stopped an inch away from running into someone entirely made of what looked to be flames. She stayed tense and what for him to go by before nearly sprinting into the nearest alley. She was a coward, she was a coward and she hated the town. She loved the lake, hated the town.

What Was That!? [Ming and Siegfried] Empty Re: What Was That!? [Ming and Siegfried]

The only place Ming ever ventured into that was part of town was the marketplace. Sometimes she'd set up a small little stall to showcase her talents in the art of sewing hoping to attract new clients. She charged heavily, but when potential customers turned away she would try to lure them back by singing a soft lullaby. Her work was quality, she bragged, one would never waste money on her clothes.

Today, however, after getting a nice invite from the pair of dragons who lived near the lake to go visit, she decided to trek further than she usually did. However, seeing as she never really familiarized herself with the town, Ming had gotten lost.

So it was a huge relief to see someone stumble into the alley.

"Miss! Miss!" she called out, hoping to catch the other's attention as she walked up to the woman. "Would you mi-mind telling me where the la-lake is?"

Aleta looked up as some one tried to get her attention, watching the young woman come closer to her. She made sure to hide any traces of her cowardice, refusing to let someone who apparently visited the lake see her be so weak. That would be too close to home and she didn't want that to happen.

"I don't mind at all." She nodded, giving the young woman a smile. Aleta began telling her the directions to get to the lake, making sure to be clear and firm when giving them. She went over the path that lead her here in her mind, reciting it backwards to get the right directions. She didn't want to send the girl to the wrong place after all, that would be terrible.

A small chirp of happiness made its way out of Ming's throat as the directions were given to her. She had been hopelessly lost for the past hour and this was a welcome change. "Th-Thank you, miss!" she said and started to walk off in the direction she was told, waving her grey-skinned webbed hand. "I hope you ha-have a nice da-day!"

As soon as she was out of the alleyway, however, Ming stopped and looked at the road in front of her. That woman seemed like one of the water creatures--and she was always looking to make new friends! But she had to go to the lake... it'd be nice to make a friend.

((Hope you don't mind me. @_@))

There was something, thought Siegfried, about those students in that class that made him feel that there was a little bit of hope left in teaching magical theories. Which was why he was here to buy more writing materials which would be used to write his comments on their atrocious essays. Honestly, he had no idea what went wrong. The only thing he knew was that they would be re-writing their essays.

He entered the town square and looked around, trying to spot that particular store that sold the most exquisite papers and quills, with the occasional fountain pen. It was then that he spotted one of his colleagues.

Thinking that it might not hurt to talk to his co-workers every now and then, and that it had been a while since he last saw that store, he walked towards her and tapped her shoulder.

"Carriedo."

She held back a giggle as the girl made a chirping noise, finding it absolutely adorable. Aleta nodded and gave her a bright smile. "You're welcome! I hope you find your way quickly." She clapped slightly and waved back as the girl left, giggling. "You too!"

Leaning back against the wall, Aleta paused and looked around as she finally realized that she was actually in an alley. A stinky, filthy, filled with disease ridden creatures likes rats alley. She looked around briefly before making her way out of the alley quickly, nearly running into the other woman. Stopping just before she did, Aleta gave her a curious look. "Is something wrong?" She wondered, frowning slightly.

As she waited for an answer, someone tapped on her shoulder. Jumping slightly and looking over at the person, Aleta relaxed slightly and gave him a smile. "Hello... can I help you?" She wasn't used to talking with Siegfried, and it was a bit odd to suddenly un into him now.

The force of the impact pushed her forward a step, but it wasn't really that harsh so Ming was able to catch herself and turn around in time. Stopping right in front of the alley/stopping so abruptly probably was a bad idea in the first place. And since Ming was still getting used to walking and using her legs, her reflexes in that department were quite slow.

"S-Sorry about that--" she started, then noticed that the woman was now talking to another person. That was rude of her to interrupt whatever they were talking about. She backed a few paces and smoothed the creases that had appeared on her clothing. Ming was a very vain person.

Well, now that the woman had met another friend of hers (Ming just assumed they were friends), maybe she could make friends later. Besides, two adults talking always meant important business, right? (She was of legal age herself in her species, but she still felt like a teen compared to them)

He raised an eyebrow.

There was something quite different from the Aleta Carriedo he saw at school and the one he was looking at right now. For starters, she had never seemed to be this jumpy when at school. Though perhaps this could be attributed to other factors.

Siegfried shrugged off this thought in favor of asking her "I was on my way to buy--" He, somewhat unsure of what to say, paused for a bit. This language was never going to rub on him completely, was it? "writing materials for class. Have you also come here to do the same thing?"

As soon as the last word came out of his mouth, his eyes spotted a figure behind Carriedo. A somewhat short girl who seemed out of sorts and who also seemed to be looking at Carriedo.

Had he perhaps interrupted something?

He softly cleared his throat and said, "I apologize if I managed to intrude on anything," in quite possibly the most unapologetic, flat tone there was. Not that he had meant to sound unapologetic and flat, though nor did he also mean to be completely sorry. It was simply polite; he wouldn't have bothered if Carriedo wasn't his co-worker.

Now, the right thing to do after that would be to excuse himself. He tucked a loose strand of hair behind his ear. [color=cyan]"It was nice meeting you here."[/cyan] He glanced at his surroundings. Even though it wasn't the most pleasant of places, what with the dingy alleyway where she and her female companion had just come out of.

Aleta smiled at the girl and shook her head. "No it's fine hun. But you never answered my question. Is something wrong?" She tilted her head, still smiling brightly. Though she supposed it didn't really matter that girl hadn't, she still looked kind of lonely. Aleta knew that she was one of the lake creatures, and she figured that it never hurt to make new friends.

While waiting for her, she looked over at Siegfried. "Ah, no. I haven't. I don't need writing materials for my class." They only met once a week so she could teach them how to swim correctly without killing themselves. Though it did leave her with a lot of free time that she didn't know what to do with, Aleta still loved her job. " Good luck finding your materials though." She didn't even know what the taller man taught. She didn't really need to know, but it would keep her from making mistakes like he had just made.

Blinking and tilting her head, Aleta shrugged. "Alright." She wasn't one to accept apologies that were obviously false and didn't mean anything, but she also knew that Siegfried wasn't the type to give out apologies to just anyone. So she would just go along with it for now.
